This Day In Fractured Fairfax:August 8
- August 8, 1959 – By a 4-2 vote, the Fairfax County School Board adopts a plan for desegregating the Fairfax County Public Schools system. The plan calls for desegregating one grade a year, starting with the first grade class in the fall of 1960.
- August 8, 1990 – 19-year-old Gordon Stewart is shanked in the shower at the Lorton Youth Center by Nathan Price. Stewart is taken to the center's clinic, where he is pronounced dead.
- August 8, 2008 – 15-year-old Cameron Dudley is killed in Centreville when the 1998 BMW he is riding in crashes into a tree and catches fire.
