- August 7, 1857 – Three young slaves owned by William Dulin are found dead in a feed box attached to his barn on his farm near Falls Church. It is assumed that the children climbed into the box while playing and suffocated.
- August 7, 1900 – An explosion at Ditchley completely destroys the factory at which jovite, a high explosive, is manufactured and seriously injures a worker.
- August 7, 1987 – Fairfax County Police Officer Gary Riccio is fired from the department for making obscene telephone calls.
- August 7, 1988 – 20-year-old Michael Thurston drowns in the Fairfax County Water Authority's reservoir in Lorton. His corpse is recovered from the 100-foot-deep former quarry the following day.
- August 7, 2006 – 23-year-old Marine Corporal Travis J. Kaemmerer unintentionally kills himself when he runs his 2000 Ford Mustang into the back of a stopped truck on Interstate 95 in Lorton at approximately 80 miles per hour.
- August 7, 2012 – 38-year-old Oscar Rivera is stabbed to death by his 20-year-old roommate, Jose Ivan Lopez Castro, in their shared apartment in the Providence Hall Apartments in the 9100 Block of Barrick Street in the Merrifield area.
