- December 21, 1916 – 50-year old Joseph S. Grimes and his wife Carrie H. Grimes are killed at the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad crossing at Lorton while returning from a family gathering in Occoquan.
- December 21, 1930 – 65-year-old Spanish-American War veteran Henry C. Jones is struck and killed by an express train on the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad in Lorton.
- December 21, 1970 – 19-year-old Intesar A. Amra is shot to death in Centreville. Her body is found a few hours later in a clearing under some power lines about 25 feet away from Pleasant Valley Road by passerby Harold Seal.
- December 21, 1996 – 37-year-old Duc Minh Pham is shot to death by his 35-year-old brother-in-law Tuan Huu Tran in the kitchen of Pham's home 13471 Point Pleasant Drive in Chantilly to settle an argument.
- December 21, 1999 – 18-year-old Lisa Panko receives an early Christmas present in the form of a three-year prison sentence for abduction for luring 21-year-old burn artist Justin R. Rhatigan to her Kingstowne townhouse, where he was fatally beaten by Micah O. Bohn, Joe Kern and Tim Jerman on July 11.
- December 21, 2015 – 73-year-old Jae Hyun Cho fatally electrocutes 56-year-old Kum Yeon, then attempts to kill himself by the same method in his basement apartment at 7160 Pennys Town Court in Annandale. Cho is taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and dies on January 9, 2016.
