- January 6, 1977 – 22-year-old Francis A. Anglim is found guilty of first-degree murder for shooting 22-year-old Donnie L. Edwards at the Brown's Chapel in Reston on July 17, 1976.
- January 6, 1980 – 22-year-old Thuy Le Nguyen is struck by a car and mortally injured as she crosses Route 50 near the Seven Corners Shopping Center in Falls Church. Nguyen is taken to Fairfax Hospital, where she dies on January 15.
