- June 28, 1962 – The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approves the rezoning of a 47,000-square-foot tract in Falls Church, allowing the construction of a 22-unit apartment building for African Americans, the first such project in over a decade.
- June 28, 1969 – After subsisting in the woods in southern Alexandria for 11 days following his murder of George C. Crown in Springfield, Frederick C. Wininger is arrested by Fairfax County Police Officers Daniel Mustaine and Gene King.
- June 28, 1993 – The Burke Centre Mini-Library in Burke is heavily damaged in an arson fire.
- June 28, 2008 – The Burke Centre Library opens.
