- June 29, 1973 – 24-year-old Larry R. Johnson is found guilty of strangling 18-year-old Patrick J. Seibert to death in their shared cell at the Fairfax County Jail on November 16, 1972.
- June 29, 1981 – In a 9-0 vote, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors unanimously approves the route for the proposed Springfield Bypass through the western and southern region of the county.
- June 29, 2000 – 33-year-old Jason A. Morant is convicted of first-degree murder for strangling his 24-year-old girlfriend Robin J. Kehrer in Fairfax on October 11, 1999.
- June 29, 2006 – A groundbreaking ceremony is held at the site of the new Burke Centre Library.
- June 29, 2012 – A large thunderstorm kills 2 people in Springfield. 26-year-old Khiet Nguyen is killed when a tree falls on his car as he drives along Old Keene Mill Road, and a 90-year-old woman is killed as she lies in her bed when a tree falls on her house on Carr Place. A third person, 19-year-old Dylan S. Cooper, is mortally injured when a power line falls on him near his home on Haycock Road in Falls Church.
