- March 15, 1969 – 29-year-old Willie E. Rodgers, Sr. unintentionally kills himself on the Capital Beltway in Alexandria when he falls asleep behind the wheel of the mail van he is driving and rams into the rear of a flatbed tractor-trailer. It takes over an hour to free Rodgers from the wreckage.
- March 15, 2011 – A man walking on Furnace Road between Old Colchester Road and Richmond Highway in Lorton finds a partial skeleton close to the railroad bridge.
