- May 3, 1979 – Carroll D. Buracker is promoted to deputy chief of the Fairfax County Police Department, replacing the retiring Kenneth R. Wilson. Harry Sommers is promoted to commander of field operations, replacing Major Richard Lester, who also retired. Former Franconia District Station commander Al Barbee is named as Buracker's replacement as the head of the department's services bureau.
- May 3, 1991 – Fairfax County Circuit Court Judge Jack B. Stevens sentences 22-year-old Robert B. Ennnis, Jr. to ten years in prison for fatally stabbing 20-year-old Jamie Friend following an incident of road rage on Popes Head Road in Clifton on December 2, 1990.
