- October 31, 1952 – 26-year-old security guard John N. Iorizzo fatally shoots 17-year-old Fairfax High School football player Howard A. Strang when Iorizzo catches Strang and several other youths vandalizing property at Lake Barcroft in Falls Church.
- October 31, 1959 – The Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority opens its first park in Fairfax County, the Bull Run Regional Park in Centreville.
- October 31, 1972 – 4-month-old Joseph Alexander bleeds to death in his crib in the family home at 6738 South Kings Highway in Alexandria after being bitten by rats on his feet.
- October 31, 2007 – To settle an argument, 36-year-old Randall A. Patridge fatally shoots his former roommate, 29-year-old Craig D. Webster, before returning to their former apartment at 6805 Brindle Heath Way in Kingstowne and committing suicide.
