- November 1, 1908 – Gatekeeper William Vickers finds the skeleton of a man in some underbrush on the grounds of Mount Vernon. Although a bullet was found in the crushed skull, Justice of the Peace T. S. Wright decides against holding an inquest and rules the man, who was probably an Italian laborer from New York who had worked on a road project on the estate about two years earlier, died of natural causes.
- November 1, 2007 – 34-year-old Thomas M. Hager is sentenced to death in Federal District Court by Judge T. S. Ellis, III for the November 29, 1993 torture and murder of Barbara E. White in her Alexandria apartment.
- November 1, 2011 – After 12 years of service, Colonel Toussaint E. Summers, Jr. retires as chief of the Herndon Police Department.
- November 1, 2015 – 69-year-old Zahoor Ali Khan is struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver as he attempts to cross Franconia Road in Alexandria.
