- April 2, 1968 – 3-year-old John D. Fox dies in a fire in a hay barn on the family property in Herndon. The fire was set by his 5-year-old brother Charles, who was playing with some matches.
- April 2, 1989 – 18-year-old Eric J. Sweigart rapes and murders 15-year-old Jennifer Ann Weller near the Montebello Apartments in Huntington.
- April 2, 1992 – 19-year-old Victor A. White is shot to death by Michael V. Shepperson, who then dumps White's body in a ditch near Lorton.
- April 2, 2006 – 89-year-old Miriam Ruemele dies in a kitchen fire in her condomium at 7444 Spring Village Drive in Greenspring Village in Springfield.
- April 2, 2001 – Mack Reaves, III is sentenced to life in prison plus ten years by Judge Jane Marum Roush for the March 18, 1992 murder of Marilyn M. Bandera in her Mount Vernon home.
- April 2, 2009 – After killing his 55-year-old wife Chi-Lin Chen, 55-year-old Ho Bih Chen commits suicide by setting fire to his home at 12115 Eddyspark Drive in Herndon.
- April 2, 2015 – 31-year-old Ubaldo Lopez Yanez fatally stabs 36-year-old Jose Ramirez Guardado in a vacant unit in the Fairmont Gardens apartments in Annandale.
- April 2, 2016 – 26-year-old Jeffrey Ponce Aguilar is struck by a Fairfax County Police cruiser and mortally injured in Alexandria. Ponce Aguilar is taken to the Inova HealthPlex in Franconia, where he dies.
