- April 10, 1906 – 40-year-old Robert E. Sisson is killed when he is caught in the machinery of his sawmill at Legato.
- April 10, 1971 – 17-year-old William L. Daly is shot to death when he attempts to prevent the sexual assault of his 16-year-old date in a wooded area near the George Washington Parkway in Alexandria.
- April 10, 1964 – The Fairfax County School Board votes to close the all-black Oak Grove Elementary School and assign its 59 students to other schools in the county.
- April 10, 2008 – 46-year-old Robert Persigehl shoots and kills his former girlfriend, 48-year-old Alexandria woman Vanessa Miller, then commits suicide in her home at 5621 Overly Drive in Rose Hill.
- April 10, 2012 – The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors votes unanimously to appoint Edward L. Long, Jr. as the Fairfax County Executive, replacing the retiring Anthony H. Griffin.
