- April 29, 1949 – 29-year-old James R. Fincham is sentenced to three years in prison for charges stemming from killing 19-year-old Robert L. Wells in a traffic crash near Centreville on November 14, 1948.
- April 29, 1991 – Circuit Court Judge F. Bruce Bach sentences 46-year-old Lieutenant Colonel Bruce N. Griffin to 18 years in prison for fatally stabbing his 37-year-old wife Paulette at their Chantilly home on November 25, 1990.
- April 29, 1996 – The bodies of 35-year-old Kieuoanh Thi Nguyen and her 2-year-old son Ryobi are found stuffed in a large trash can floating on a pond owned by the Vulcan Materials Company in the Shirley Edsall Industrial Park in Springfield.
- April 29, 2012 – 42-year-old Amadeo Guerra-Giron is stabbed in Chantilly by William Santiago. Guerra-Giron is transferred under medical care in May to his home country of Guatemala, where he dies of his injuries on July 23
