- December 3, 1988 – 42-year-old Frederick D. Hayes is shot and killed by Fairfax County police officer Gary J. Allen on Route 1 in Alexandria when Hayes wrestles Allen's nightstick away from him and begins beating him with it.
- December 3, 1998 – Fairfax County Sheriff Carl R. Peed fires Deputy Jabar Shabazz for violating department rules against making public statements.
- December 3, 2003 – Fairfax County Public Schools Superintendent Daniel A. Domenech announces his intention to retire, effective March 5, 2004.
- December 3, 2007 – 48-year-old Min Hyun Lee is killed while drunkenly lying on Little River Turnpike when a 20-year-old woman runs over him with a 2004 Oldsmobile.
