- December 2, 1921 – William H. Oehlert is convicted of the first-degree murder of Henry Briscoe in Alexandria on October 15 following a 35-minute deliberation by the jury.
- December 2, 1959 – Following a five-month investigation into conflict of interest charges, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors fires Hospital Commission chairman Donald L. Wilkins and appoints attorney John D. K. Smoot to fill the remainder of his term.
- December 2, 1972 – 12-year-old Karen L. Spencer is found beaten to death in a field across from the Jefferson Manor Shopping Center in the Penn Daw neighborhood of Alexandria.
- December 2, 1981 – Following his arrest on drunk driving charges by officer Paul Crossfield, retired Navy Captain Cecil E. Harris celebrates his 65th birthday by hanging himself in his cell in the Fairfax County Police Department's Groveton Substation at 6210 North Kings Highway in Alexandria. The unconscious Harris is discovered shortly after midnight and taken to Mount Vernon Hospital, where he is pronounced dead.
- December 2, 1988 – 32-year-old Anita Antzes is fatally injured in a fire at her apartment at 4225 Wadsworth Court in the Fairmont Gardens apartments in Annandale. She is taken to the Fairfax Hospital, where she dies.
- December 2, 1990 – 22-year-old Robert B. Ennis, Jr. stabs 20-year-old Jamie Friend to death on Popes Head Road in Clifton in an incident of road rage.
- December 2, 2007 – 19-year-old Christian Argueta is shot to death in the parking lot of the Cerro Grande restaurant at Springfield Mall in Springfield at around 1:45 AM by Rafael Parada-Mendoza, a member of the Pinos Locos Salvatrucha set of MS-13.
- December 2, 2014 – The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors votes 8-2 to consider increasing their pay from $75,000 per year.
