- July 12, 1997 – 22-year-old Eric A. Barcia unintentionally kills himself when attempts to bungee jump from the Accotink Creek Railroad Bridge using an improvised bungee cord.
- July 12, 2004 – David M. Rohrer is appointed Chief of the Fairfax County Police Department.
- July 12, 2010 – The skeletal remains of Manuel Mireles-Garcia are discovered in the 10200 block of Furnace Road. Mireles-Garcia had disappeared in Prince William County on May 10 along with his brother, Alberto, whose remains were found on March 15, 2011.
