- May 26, 1974 – While attending services with the recently organized King of Kings Lutheran Church, 3-year-old Scott D. Birdsong is killed at the Greenbriar West Elementary School in Fairfax when a heavy table falls on top of him. Birdsong is taken to Commonwealth Doctors Hospital, where he is pronounced dead.
- May 26, 1979 – 27-year-old paralegal Margaret E. Goehring is abducted, robbed, sexually assaulted and finally shot to death by William Brown, III in Falls Church.
- May 26, 1991 – 47-year-old Charles L. Paugh is fatally stabbed by his trailer mate, 32-year-old Michael E. Travers, in his trailer at 5609 Vine Street in Franconia because Travers believes his 3-year-old daughter was sexually assaulted by Paugh.
- May 26, 1999 – 63-year-old Fuad K. Taima, his 54-year-old wife Dorothy, and their 16-year-old son Leith are shot to death in the family home at 6808 Broyhill Street in McLean.
- May 26, 2016 – 50-year-old Kathi L. Lipp commits suicide at her home at 11526 Seneca Farm Way in Great Falls.
