- October 26, 1952 – A large forest fire in the Groveton area requires the efforts of 300 firefighters and 30 pieces of equipment from various area departments to bring the fire under control.
- October 26, 1970 – Michael W. Straight and his former wife, Dr. Belinda Crompton Straight, give Green Spring Farm to Fairfax County for use as a museum. The farm will form the core of the Green Spring Gardens park in Alexandria.
- October 26, 2004 – Supervisor Gerry Connolly is found not guilty of leaving the scene of a May 14 accident in Tysons Corner.
