- September 25, 1990 – 23-year-old clerk Mohammad Jamal Tafwiz is shot to death during a robbery at an Alexandria 7-Eleven by 19-year-old Louis V. Arai.
- September 25, 2002 – 52-year-old David A. Schoff commits suicide in his home at 1507 Farsta Court in Reston by shooting himself.
- September 25, 2012 – Fairfax County Police Chief David M. Rohrer is appointed as a Deputy County Executive by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, assuming the public safety portfolio from Rob Stalzer.
