Deborah L. Tyler

Deborah L. "Debi" Tyler is the assistant superintendent for Region 3 of the Fairfax County Public Schools system.

Prior to the regime change in FCPS in which the system shifted from using Clusters to Regions, Tyler served as the assistant superintendent for Cluster IV from 2012 to 2014.

Early life and education

Tyler attended West Virginia State College, where she took her bachelor's degree in elementary and special education, and Marshall University, where she took a a master’s degree in special education.[1]

Career

Tyler's first position with FCPS was as a special education teacher at Bucknell Elementary School from 1986 to 1988.[1]

In 1988, Tyler moved to Pine Spring Elementary School, where she worked as a teacher until 1994, when she was named assistant principal. She became principal at Pine Spring in 2001.[1]

Tyler left Pine Spring in 2006 to open the new Eagle View Elementary School as its principal.[1]

In 2009, Tyler became the Director of Cluster IV schools for Fairfax County.[1]

Following the resignation of Scott Brabrand to become superintendent of schools in Lynchburg in March 2012, Tyler served as acting assistant superintendent of Cluster IV.[1] Tyler was named assistant superintendent of Cluster IV on June 11, 2012, and started in that position on July 1.[1]
