Clarence A. Satterwhite | January 30, 1963 | Satterwhite had absconded following his parole from Alcatraz prison in December 1962, and was suspected of leading a gang responsible for a number of robberies. Confronted in bed at a boarding house at 6509 Washington Drive in Baileys Crossroads, Satterwhite was shot in the head by Detective John F. Briggman while holding a pistol concealed beneath his bedsheet. Satterwhite was taken to Fairfax Hospital, where he died about an hour later.[1] |

William B. Gates | August 5, 1981 | Wanted for the murder of 36-year-old Lawrence Bryant in Colonial Beach, Virginia, Gates was shot by officers Michael Douglas Scott, Stephen Hardgrove, and Richard Shaffer, who confronted Gates as he left the Loyal Order of Moose lodge at 7701 Beulah Street in Alexandria, where his wife worked as a bartender. Refusing the officers' commands, Gates instead reached for a .44 magnum revolver in his belt and was fatally shot.[3][4] |

Ji Young Yoo | September 7, 2000 | Shot once in the chest at his home at 5223 Stonington Drive in the Kings Park West neighborhood of Fairfax after being pepper-sprayed and refusing to drop the splitting maul he had been using to break up furniture in the house. Yoo was flown to the Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he died.[9][10] |
