- July 28, 1899 – An unknown man, about 40 years of age and suspected of being a tramp, is killed on the Southern Railway near Burke's Station by a northbound Chesapeake and Ohio passenger train.
- July 28, 1976 – 18-year-old William M. McGinty is sentenced to 20 years in prison by Judge Arthur W. Sinclair for the rape and murder of Anita Cunningham on August 26, 1975.
- July 28, 2007 – 29-year-old Morena Magdalena Martinez is shot to death in her home at 13620 Pennsboro Drive in Chantilly.
