- October 6, 1900 – While hunting near Accotink along with his 16-year-old niece, 28-year-old John A. Morgan is killed when his gun, which he had leaned against a tree, falls and discharges.
- October 6, 1967 – The Twin Lakes Golf Course in Clifton opens for play.
- October 6, 2000 – Former Fairfax County Police officer Daniel B. Garrett, III is sentenced to two years in prison for stealing $330,000 while acting as the department's asset forfeiture officer.
- October 6, 2006 – Judge Stanley P. Klein sentences 32-year-old Pablo A. Cruz to 10 years in prison for killing 18-year-old Jonathan T. Bentley in a drunk driving crash in Falls Church on November 24, 2005.
- October 6, 2011 – 50-year-old Carmela Dela Rosa is convicted of first-degree murder in the November 29, 2010 slaying of her 2½-year-old granddaughter, Angelyn Ogdoc, whom she threw from a 44-foot high walkway at Tysons Corner Center.
