- September 1, 1962 – After catching John C. Vinson, Jr. peeping through the windows of the family house at 1317 Jefferson Avenue in Falls Church, 17-year-old honor student Lewis M. Goldfein is fatally shot by Vinson when Goldfein confronts him.
- September 1, 1971 – 19-year-old Steven A. Motteler is unintentionally shot in the head and mortally wounded by his brother, 21-year-old Donald L. Motteler, in his apartment at 1540 Northgate Square in Reston. The younger Motteler is taken to the Fairfax Hospital, where he is pronounced dead.
- September 1, 1989 – Roger A. Taylor, Jr. is sentenced to 25 years in prison by Judge J. Howe Brown for the March 11 murder of his stepmother, Carolyn U. Taylor.
- September 1, 1996 – After extinguishing a burning car in a parking lot in Herndon, firefighters find the body of Paul G. Gabelia burned beyond recognition in the trunk of his 1991 Mercury with his hands and feet bound and a cable wrapped around his neck.
- September 1, 2000 – After following him from Chillum, Maryland, 26-year-old Prince George's County Police Corporal Carlton B. Jones shoots 25-year-old Prince C. Jones, Jr. to death in the Seven Corners area of Falls Church.
- September 1, 2013 – After over 20 years in operation, the Treasured Child consignment shop located in the Burke Village Center in Burke closes.
- September 1, 2014 – 27-year-old Filaberto Felipe Paz Ramirez is murdered in the Culmore section of Falls Church.
