- March 13, 1977 – The 214-year-old Bush Hill mansion in Franconia is destroyed by an arson fire.
- March 13, 1986 – A Fairfax County jury takes 35 minutes to find 16-year-old Thomas L. Grogg guilty of murder, robbery and use of a firearm for killing 28-year-old Hallie Hollis in Lorton on October 20, 1985.
- March 13, 1989 – 18-year-old Azuna G. Vilma is struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Arlington Boulevard near Wayne Road in Falls Church. She is then struck by three other drivers.
- March 13, 1993 – Michael Martin is stabbed to death by James Cowan at the maximum security facility of the Lorton Correctional Complex.
- March 13, 2008 – 42-year-old John P. Bloxham is convicted of first-degree murder for fatally shooting 31-year-old Todd J. Rogers in Rogers' truck in the Beacon Hill area of Alexandria on June 30, 2007.
- March 13, 2009 – Judge David S. Schell is formally invested as a judge on the Fairfax Circuit Court.
